             The Porter’s Perfection apple is an English heirloom variety first discovered in the early 19^th century in Lambrook, Somerset.  It’s popularity peaked in the early 1900s, however there has been a recent surge in demand due to its popularity in cider-making. The Porter’s Perfection is an English bittersharp, yielding juice with a highly acidic and sharp flavour, with low astringency.  It has been described as having a good balance between its tartness and tannins.  This varietal yields a generally small apple that is full and dark red with pronounced lenticels.  It is a relatively vigorous apple with a heavy crop, however it also has a tendency towards growing bi-annually, as well as for 2 to 4 apples in cluster to fuse together during growing. Known as one of the more disease resistant varietals of the English ciders.
