Honeycrisp
Eating
Sweet, Med-Acidity, Refreshingly Crisp.
Description:
Since it’s release in the 1990s from the University of Minnesota, the Honeycrisp apple has become a mainstay, and one of the most popular apples on the market. Each year in the past decade demand for this apple has consistently outdone its supply. The Honeycrisp is a medium to large, pink hued red/orange apple over a green/yellow background, with speckle-spotted skin. This apple has a thirst-quenchingly light and crisp/crunch texture. Its flavour is sweet, with a hint of complexity, and some balancing acidity. Mid-harvest, early-September. Low vigour. Prone to bitterpit. Good disease resistance. Zone hardiness 3. Stores well (until April). Bruises easily. Retains crispness when stored.
Not self-pollinating.
